Other Abstract: MINI-MICRO CDS/ISIS is a mini-micro-computer version of CDS/ISIS (Computerized Documentation System/Integrated Set of Information systems) package developed by the Division of Software Development and Applications (IPS/SDA) of Unesco in 1985. It is a generalized information processing designed specially for management of structure non-numeric data bases. It is made available free-of-charge to qualified non-profit institutions in the Member Stated of Unesco. At present, it has been officially distributed to over 4,000 institutions in different regions of the world. One of the major advantages offered by the package is its ability to manipulate an unlimited number of data base of different nature through the same set of computer programs. No programming knowledge is required to use the basic software. The second version, MINI-MICRO CDS/ISIS Version 2.3 was launched in early 1989. The most advanced and powerful tool offered by Version 2.3 is the CDS/ISIS PASCAL facility which enables to extend standard options provided by the system. Other major innovations introduced in version 2.3 include a single menu providing access to all services which were previously offered by six different programs (ISIS, ISISPRT, ISISINV, ISISDEF, ISISXCH and ISISUTL); and new features added to the formatting language and information retrieval.
